Mining fleet optimisation and allocation
Maintaining mining fleet optimisation can be difficult with the number of vehicles, their current location and stockpile levels all factors that must be considered when calculating the optimal allocation. Using fleet management software can assist operations with planning and maintaining the optimal mining fleet allocation throughout the project.
MICROMINE’s fleet management and mine control solution, Pitram, records data related to equipment and material, providing an overall view of the current status of your mine. This enables operations to keep their mining fleet optimisation to a maximum.
Mine site vehicle tracking
In order to maintain mining fleet optimisation, the control room must know the current position and status of all equipment via a tracking system. Pitram’s 3D mine application displays the current location and status of all equipment in surface and underground operations. In a surface operation, Pitram mobile tablets installed in equipment cabins, relay the current position to the Pitram server. In an underground operation, equipment is tracked via a 3rd party tracking system that transfers data to the Pitram server using one of Pitram’s tracking system connectors.
Using equipment location, the control room is then able to plan and schedule the tasks that each machine needs to complete. Pitram’s shift planner allows for the planned work of equipment and mining locations to be divided into smaller tasks or activities which can be reallocated or rescheduled during the shift. These tasks are communicated to the equipment operators along with the expected duration and any other information. As the task is tracked automatically, supervisors are notified when a task is at risk of delay. The dependency of each task is shown graphically, allowing the effect of a delay to be easily identified and the overall impact on the shift to be known. Using the shift planner assists with ensuring the most efficient mining fleet optimisation.
Mining fleet optimisation: Intelligent software enhances control
Additionally, surface operations can benefit from using Pitram’s surface optimiser for mining fleet optimisation. The surface optimiser allows sites to establish priorities for their equipment via user configurable parameters. The priorities are fed into an optimisation algorithm that takes into account fleet size, current GPS positions and distances to optimise the allocation of the fleet. The optimisation process is performed in real-time, allowing for recommendations to be made by the control room operator.
Pitram’s capability to assist with mining fleet optimisation ensures your operation is able to operate efficiently at all times. This helps to improve production, reduce costs and reduce the workload on operators.
